Are you planning on visiting the town of Telluride from Ouray anytime soon? This historic town is brimming with sights and a rich past to explore, and one of the most exciting ways to get there is by using a Jeep.
There are several different paths you can take to reach Telluride from Ouray, so it’s up to you to determine which one is most ideal based on your time and experience. For example, you could take the straightforward approach of Highway 550 to Ridgway, turning onto Highway 62, and then turn onto Highway 145. This will take about an hour or so and it’s only 47 miles away.
Then again you might want to give Black Bear Pass a shot. While it’s a shorter distance when it comes to miles, it will take you significantly longer to get there. However, with its many narrow turns and sharp turns, it’s definitely a thrilling experience.
For something incredibly scenic, Imogene Pass is a sight to behold, but it’s not for the inexperienced. You’ll be navigating difficult terrain towards a 13,000+ foot summit. On the other hand, you could check out the easier Ophir Pass which will take you near waterfalls and a beautiful mountain lake before you arrive at the small town of Ophir, just a few miles from Telluride.
