Ouray and its neighboring areas, with the abundance of natural sights to explore, provide a copiousness of excitement for anyone looking to plunge themselves into its rich landscapes. A road trip shows a lot of sights and we are here to highlight a few.
The San Juan Scenic Skyway spans more than 200 miles and forms a portion of the Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway System, creating a loop that carries riders through Durango, Telluride, Ouray, Silverton, and other notable places. While an off-road vehicle won’t take you too long, the trip can take about two days if you decide a bike is your preferred means of travel.
The Uncompahgre National Forest and San Juan National Forest are just a few of the sights you can explore. Other notable places like Mesa Verde National Park cliff dwellings and the famous Million Dollar Highway are sights you’ll discover.
The Alpine Loop is a less lengthy trip that spans a little more than sixty miles in the southwest region. Its history as far back as the 1800s and its sights includes wildflowers forests, the remnants of the famous ghost towns, and so much more.
