Among the many enjoyable aspects of venturing off on a Jeep to explore one of the trails is the many different options available to people of all skill levels. Today we’re concentrating on a few of the trails intended for those who like to live on the wild side and laugh in the face of danger.
Governor Basin is perhaps lesser known than the similarly named Yankee Boy Basin. It’s comprised of an intricate network of trails with tons of sights and switchbacks aplenty. Because of its challenge, it’s relatively unused which means you may have more of the trail to yourself. As you explore Governor Basin you’ll encounter a series of rough and jagged peaks that make up Saint Sophia Ridge. As it is not intended for amateurs, experienced drivers will surely appreciate the pure natural vistas.
You’ll discover Imogene Pass nestled between Ouray and Telluride. If you’re looking for a great solo challenge, this is it. It is the second-highest pass in the state of Colorado and it provides thrills and scenery in equal numbers. The road will gradually narrow as you climb higher and if you successfully reach the very top you’ll be treated to a truly spectacular vista of Ingram Falls and Bridal Veil Falls.
