Explore Imogene Pass

Explore Imogene PassImogene Pass opened to the public earlier this week, connecting Ouray to the town of Telluride. Not only is Imogene Pass iconic, it’s the most popular Jeeping destination in all of Ouray County and it’s the second tallest pass in Colorado, soaring over 13,000 feet.

The seventeen miles of unpaved road that comprises Imogene Pass is not for novice drivers but it is good for those seeking a thrilling solo experience that’s also beautifully scenic. Those seeking thrills will find plenty of rocky sections as well as optional lines that have earned Imogene Pass tremendous acclaim. As drivers make their way through the pass they can catch glimpses of neighboring Black Bear Pass trail across the valley in various spots.

Upon reaching the summit at 13,114 feet, making your way down to the other side of the pass is significantly easier than the way up as most of the road is flat and wide, making it much easier to pass other people that may also be exploring in their Jeep.

To fully enjoy the Imogene Pass experience, strongly consider a tour. Not only is it safer, you’ll learn about the area’s rich history.
